Short Story Group and Discussion:
Shalom Bayit by Zoë Klein
Love a good story? Join us for a Circle of Friends get-together on Wednesday, June 25, from 4pm to 5:30pm, to read and chat about a short story, and enjoy tea, coffee, and snacks together in our temple’s lobby.
We’ll kick things off with Shalom Bayit by Rabbi Zoë Klein, from her collection of short stories, Candle, Feather, Wooden Spoon.
According to the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) website, Rabbi Klein’s Candle, Feather, Wooden Spoon presents the reader with stories that “highlight an essential aspect of living a meaningful Jewish life.” Shalom Bayit imagines “the chuppah as a metaphor for powerful social change.”
We’re providing a link to a PDF of the story ahead of time. This will allow you to read the story in advance, and join us on June 25 with your initial thoughts, impressions, and questions.
Come for the story, stay for the conversation!
