Join us on Zoom for a fascinating course that will surely enhance your understanding of Judaism and the Bible.

On four Thursdays of February at 4:00 p.m., Dr. Idan Dershowitz, Chair of Hebrew Bible and its Exegesis at the University of Potsdam, Germany will speak on the following themes:

1. The Ten Commandments vs. the Torah.
2. The Spies Narratives.
3. The Levites, Joseph, and the Tribes of Israel.
4. The Names of Gd.

Idan is a young Israeli-American Bible scholar and the premier authority on the “Shapira Scrolls.” These manuscripts were reportedly discovered in a cave in the Dead Sea area in the 1860s, and they contain a remarkable text, which Idan has identified as the ancient precursor to the book of Deuteronomy. He calls this unparalleled literary work “The Valediction of Moses.” Each of Idan’s lectures will explore a different theme related to “The Valediction of Moses,” highlighting how its unique narrative and theology reverberate throughout the history of the Bible and Judaism.
